I am considering a vacation with my family next year either late February or mid April. There are four of us my wife and two teenage children. WE do not speak Spanish and are looking for a low-key, relatively inexpensive vacation where we can find nice, quiet beaches and friendly people. We experienced such a vacation in Costa Rica we rented a car and did quite a bit of driving, but enjoyed exploring the country on our own.
Does San Andres sound like a good choice for a vacation like what we're looking for? Any suggestions for renting a home for a week, renting a car or cart or whatever? It seems Margarita Island is too dangerous for a family.
Martin has topless beaches not really family oriented. I would suggest my Island San Andres. Very little crime If Any Very family geared. Not a singles Island. More church type Island. People very friendly. Hotels are 3 Star at best. Very few foreigners. Two official languages here English and Spanish Only place in Colombia where English is an official language. If you like to just lay around and enjoy the beach and water sports this is the place.
Not much night life. You can rent a Golf cart and drive all over the Island. You can stop any place on the South end of the Island and talk to any black person you see and the will speak English and are super polite and friendly. This is a Colombian owned Island but the original people are Afro Caribbeans with their own gentile culture.
We have very little of the problems that the Mainland Colombians have, and a vastly different culture from Colombians.. Getting here is a hassle and a little costly.
