I have read the Salmanca neighborhood it'sa nice area to walk but which street we should be walking. Also , typical Spanish restaurant, not a tourist trap but a real typical Spanish restaurant in Madrid where locals go.
Thank you!!!! You can take the metro to either Velazquez or Serrano stops. As for restaurants, there are thousands of them in Madrid. Good sign of not a tourist trap would be not being in obvious tourist spots like Plaza Mayor , not having English menu or at least not clear English signs outside and not being full of foreigners.
Mind that, if you're there on a Sunday as per your other post , Salamanca area may not be the best option for a walk, with all shops closed it may be a bit depressing. Perpendicular to Calle Serrano is Ortega y Gassett, where many of the European designers have their stores. Restaurante Jose Luis at Serrano, 89, is a very good restaurant and also famous for its tapas. The chocolate cake is wonderful. This is definitely not a tourist trap. I have been there several times and have always enjoyed my meals there.
Famous Chef Jose Luis opened the restaurant in The stores in the Salamanca area are closed on Sunday. You can go to Calle Preciados downtown where many stores will be open. This topic has been closed to new posts due to inactivity.
