My friend is planning on driving to Tampico with her fiance as their honeymoon. They are not big travelers so they are combining their honeymoon with a trip to see his family which she has never met.
The family lives in Tampico so they are wanting to get a hotel there instead of spending nights at the family house.
It is their honeymoon, afterall! I've been to the Tampico forum, but there have only been 2 posts in so I'm thinking it would probably be better to see if any of you have any experience with Tampico.
I lived in Monterrey for a couple years, and drove there with friends twice. I am not sure what you want to know, and there really isn't much to tell.
It is more like a small city on the gulf rather than a resort town. It is not like Cancun or Puerto Vallarta at all. It caters mainly to Mexican tourists. It was a lovely town, and I was just thrilled to be on the beach, after being in the city all year. The main square in Tampico is nice. It has an almost french feel to it, or like New Orleans.
